Redevelopment of the PavilionAs part of a five-year strategy, EMCC is proposing to demolish the existing pavilion and replace it with a building better suited to the Club’s needs. Although the existing pavilion was built to the design of award-winning architect, Professor Basil Ward in the 1950’s, it is now looking rather tired and the acquisition of a second pitch would create the need for additional facilities. The Club plans to make the new pavilion available to the wider Molesey community and help address the current shortage of hire facilities in the local area as well as enable a local winter sports club to use the new building as a base for its activities.
The Club is realistic in its timings and programming and expects the fund-raising and grant-acquiring phase of the development to take about five years. Its recent English Cricket Board Clubmark accreditation and anticipated Focus Club status with Surrey County Cricket (SCC) will hopefully open up the avenues of funding needed to pursue this ambitious project. It is expected that the formal Planning Application will be submitted before spring 2010.
